5. How to build something bigger than yourself with Faten Alshazly, creative director and co-founder of We Us Them

by | Aug 13, 2020

Have you ever heard the saying, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”? About a year and a half ago I was looking around, and to be honest, I felt like I didn’t have enough female role models in the business world that were entrepreneurs building something bigger than themselves. Then I met Faten Alshazly, who is the creative director and co-founder of We Us Them, a global advertising agency with their office here in Halifax. Halifax is a small city, and I had the privilege of running into Faten in my everyday life multiple times over the past year and a half. Every time I saw her, I learned something new. She challenged me, she gave me a new idea, and she was so vulnerable about what it really takes to start a business. She also talked about diversity, and We Us Them’s ability to enter new countries and win business against very large advertising agencies from the traditional creative hubs like New York and London.

She is the winner of the 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada Award, the Women of Influence Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and also the winner of many creative awards.
