18. How to prepare for a job interview

by | Jun 16, 2020

In this episode of the Diversity at Work podcast, we are talking about preparing for a job interview. I actually started out as a career coach – I could see all of these amazing skills that they had, but they couldn’t see it for themselves let alone convince someone else in a job search process that they were capable of doing the job. A lot of the interview prep I saw online was very scripted. But when you’re rehearsed and just saying a script you can’t connect authentically with people. And let’s be honest that connection during an interview is what gets you the job. People decide based on feelings and then they justify their decision based on qualifications. The other problem was – no matter how many potential questions we brainstormed, there was always one that we never thought of that would stump someone.
