LEADERSHIP ACCELERATOR FOR WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION
Developing the leaders the construction industry needs today

Why women are the answer to the construction industry’s war for talent
There is currently a talent shortage in the construction industry; there aren’t enough people to do all of the work. Almost every company needs to get 110-120% out of every employee, which presents a new challenge.
Simply providing someone with a longer to-do list or delegating more does not inspire them to take action and give additional energy to contribute towards the company’s goals.
Construction companies urgently need transformational leaders who inspire and motivate teams to perform at a higher level – the traditional transactional approach to leadership isn’t as effective anymore.
The Opportunity to Invest in Women is Now
Transformational leadership both inspires and empowers others. Internally motivated employees fulfill their workplace’s needs to everyone’s full potential.
Studies have shown that men naturally gravitate towards a transactional leadership style, whereas women naturally veer towards a transformational style. Because leadership in construction is so male-dominated, transactional leadership skills have been reinforced through hiring practices for many years.
The relational value that women bring to the table can often get overlooked because it isn’t formally tracked in performance management systems that continue to reward transactional leadership behaviours.
Ambition Theory’s Leadership Accelerator focuses on improving employee retention by developing transformational leaders from the talent that exists inside the company.
Address the war for talent in your organization today by investing in existing professionals. Make a statement that your organization is taking action to support women in construction.
8-Week Leadership Course
Starts April 3, 2023

‘I originally had some concerns about the training being only for women as I was worried it could perpetuate prejudices against men. However, seeing people like myself in similar roles with similar challenges validated that I wasn’t alone. Being in this setting allowed me to see that some of the traditional barriers women have faced in the construction industry are slowly fading. Don’t get me wrong, there are still barriers to overcome, but they don’t seem as impossible anymore. ‘
